The Time is Now!

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

If one thing is clear from the decades of reckless spending and the bipartisan destruction of our Constitution, it is that Washington D.C. cannot be the pilots of our economy, and cannot be entrusted with our future.

Bailouts and stimulus packages rob responsible savers, promote recklessness, and stifle productivity. Fear mongering has become a tool of the governing elite and principles have seceded from compromise.

Election after election, Americans look to our political parties for respectable and honest candidates. Campaign after campaign is run on hyperbolized appeals to emotion, empty rhetoric, and meaningless debate; nothing changes.

Now, it is our turn.

Those that respect self-responsibility, honesty, and the ideals set forth in the Constitution have an opportunity to send a message to the thieves in Washington. We have had ENOUGH, and we’re not going to take it anymore!

Leave the reasons why you are MAD and what your solutions are to the problem.

The best posts will be featured as blogs on this site.

April 1, 2009 | Tea Bag the Fools in D.C.

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Our founders have stopped rolling over in their graves. After months of tossing and turning, we have finally taken back the banner of hope that has been hijacked by the “do-good” saviors.

Statist sympathizers call us cynics; those who complain without answers of our own. They call us “selfish”, implying that funding failure is altruistic. While America was founded on those who do, they ask us to submit to those who can’t.

ENOUGH!

On December 16, 1773, the original Patriots put their lives on the line. With an envelope, a stamp, and a bag of tea, millions of Americans can send a peaceful message; our lives have value.

On April 1st, our establishment will know that our freedom to succeed can no longer be sacrificed at the risk of our future.

With sincerity and respect, we ask that you join us on April 1st, 2009, in sending the Oval Office a Tea Bag, in honor of the party in Boston on December 16, 1773, and in anticipation of its nationwide symbolic re-enactment in the summer of 2009.

If you have had enough, please submit your pledge to send Washington a Tea Bag on April 1st by using the pledge form in the right sidebar.

A Reason for Optimism

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Within two days of launching this site, thousands of patriots poured out their frustrations, concerns, passion, and hearts. We are still getting through the responses. From these e-mails, one thing is certain: the cause of freedom is filled with hard-working, wise, and articulate men and women who understand the problems we face as a country today much more than the government gives us credit. With her permission, Patty has agreed to share her letter:

Mr. Santelli,

Thank you for telling it like it is in the real world. The world where schedules are insane. Where parents volunteer COUNTLESS HOURS at their parochial school to teach Art and Coach sports teams because the public schools that our tax dollars are paying for absolutely stink. The world where hard work has meant a comfortable house and providing for our children. The world where we EARN the money we make with late nights and stress and discomfort and frustration and we suck it up because it is the right thing to do. And, because it helps to teach our children that hard work pays off. And, because it is what we CHOOSE to do.

Yes, I will mail tea bags to the White House.

Yes, I would like to participate in a Tea Party.

When 3 women - 2 in their 40s and successfully self-employed, and 1 in her mid-60s have a lunch on 2/18/09 that turns into a rant about politics - specifically the fact that we are no longer a country where we are represented and we are no longer working toward capitalistic goals - you know there is something askew. This is a true story. Over a lunch last week I sat with 2 women shaking our heads collectively and agreeing to keep in touch on what we CAN do to put control back into the hands of the PEOPLE and help return this to a REPRESENTATIVE democracy, not a Socialist Dictatorship.

YES - Mr. Santelli - PLEASE go to Washington. Tell Mr. Gibbs where he can firmly place the document he so arrogantly suggested you didn’t read. While you’re there, please remind Mr. Obama that he lives in AMERICA - the land of the free. And the home of the outspoken.

Then, get back on TV and keep waking up the sleeping giant, silent majority who - if they keep silent - run the risk of losing more than a few tax dollars.

Until this past fall and winter I had never contacted my senator or congressman about anything. I have emailed anyone and everyone i could find in the past few weeks begging them to represent me and vote NO on any other bailout program.

Do we need a Tea Party? Hell yes.

I’ve been saying that we need one since the first bailout last fall. But, I am only one woman. Thankfully Rick Santelli has stamina, chutzpah, and integrity to stand up and speak his mind that reflects so many of us in the trenches too busy to do anything because we are working hard and parenting our children.

Yes. We want our free, capitalist country back - complete with its flaws and failures and imperfections. ANYTHING is better than another bandaid.

Obama’s Address to the “Nation” | Plain and Candid

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

In his speech last night, the President was moderate, measured and non-confrontational; cold water for dissenters. Yet, elements of the speech implied serious economic implications, including veiled notes of centralization, recklessness and fear.

The President was honest enough to “speak plainly and candidly” to Americans: “You see, the flow of credit is the lifeblood of our economy.”

The line was naked honesty about the President’s philosophy; a belief in quantity over quality.

We have received thousands of emails and are processing your inquiries. We are very pleased with the positive responses.

Due to the overwhelming number of e-mails, we have not been able to answer all of your questions and address all of your inquiries individually.

The 10th Friendly Reminder

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Thomas Jefferson described the Tenth Amendment as “the foundation of the Constitution” and added, “to take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn … is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition.”

Pursuant to the Tenth Amendment, the government of the United States has the power to regulate only matters delegated to it by the Constitution.

Peter Schiff, Santelli: Online Superstars

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Capitalists Rick Santelli and Peter Schiff are striking a chord. From the Business Insider:

Pirated versions of “The Rant” were watched over 400,000 times on YouTube in just 30 hours after Santelli went on his tirade, according to video analytics service TubeMogul. We’re guessing the number could easily have doubled through the weekend. And though Drudge had it as his red-letter headline for much of Thursday, all that traffic was sent to CNBC.com, so that’s potentially hundreds of thousands more who saw the official version.

Elsewhere the fed-up crowd raised $20,000 to urge Peter Schiff to run for Senate in Connecting in 2010 against Chris Dodd. Schiff hasn’t said he’ll run, and he’d be a pretty big longshot if he did.

But between Santelli and Schiff, who already had a cult following online, we can start to see the outlines of an angry opposition.
