Event Updates

We are receiving hundreds of comments and emails from supportive advocates of this event. Event sponsorship, media inquiries, and supporters calling for a Teaparty in their hometown have been flooding our inbox today and we are pleased with the support.

Some Details:

This event will be held in early July, 2009. (We are leaning on Saturday, July 4th, however the date will be more definite when event permits are secured and sponsors are finalized. )

We have decided to hold 3 Major Tea Parties, however, we may hold more in other areas of the country depending on support levels. (Boston, Chicago, and LA)

There are some prospects for venue locations for these events however we are in the process of securing permits and working out logistics. You can find out more information on the events by clicking on the links to their respective Facebook Pages in the right sidebar of the homepage.

Make sure you pledge to attend by using the widget in the right sidebar. We are working on a widget that displays the total number of pledges so users can keep track of how many people are attending!

Lets do one in Houston as well. Its by the sea and there are plenty of commenters in the above section that asked for Houston. I can mobilize people here.

I suggest we dump copies of the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

I also suggest a Washington, DC event.

    Keep this moving!

Dump a copy of the Stimulus Bill in the Lake…bet it sinks…

Let’s do it. It’s time to take a stand!

  5. john stames said:

SINCE OBAMA PROMISED CHANGE, WE SHOULD EACH DUMP 2 CENTS IN THE LAKE OR EVEN BETTER, WE SHOULD SEND OUR 2 CENTS WORTH TO THE WHITE HOUSE. ITS SIMPLE, YOU WOULDN’T EVEN HAVE TO WRITE A MESSAGE. JUST PUT R.S. ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE ENVELOPE AND YOUR
    2 CENTS INSIDE.

  6. john stames said:

    REGARDING YOUR 2 CENTS WORTH.
SENDING THE CHANGE BACK TO OBAMA WOULD BE AN EASY WAY OF “THANKS BUT NO THANKS, I DON’T WANT YOUR CHANGE”
P.S. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A TEA PARTY IN DENVER ALSO.
I,JUST TUESADY’ HAD A GREAT PORK SANDWICH ON THE STEPS OF THE COLORADO STATE CAPITOL BUILDING AND A NICE “CUPPA” WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT! I THINK OBAMA’S ADVISORS ARE A OUIJA BOARD AMD A MYSTIC 8 BALL

Congratulations to RS on exercising the courage of your convictions! Dump in “Kool-Aid” in honor of those who voted this administration into power?!

  8. R. Royster said:

I live on the West coast but will attend a protest anywhere you organize. I’m so proud of you for standing up for our country and those who play by the rules and don’t look for handouts. I’ve seen some of these “foreclosures” up close and it’s enough to gag a maggot. How about a couple making about $200,000 a year, fully employed stopping payment on their home so the bank will take it back after they live rent free for at least 10 months as it moves through the system? This is after they’ve already turned back 2 other homes in AZ they bought as investments. The best part is how they brag that in 3 years they will be able to buy a home again with no problem. Where’s the justice? I don’t want my money available to losers who have no shame!

KOOL-AID might be appropriate. Then line the shore with DEMs

  10. Ian said:

I think we should dump Obama himself into the lake!

  11. Tracy said:

I think we should all mail in our 2 cents to Washington, but not put RS on the outside, because the demonstration needs to be bigger than that - show it is all of us and we are not simply responding to Mr. Santelli. It would show how many people are opposed to what is going on. We could write “Keep Your Change” instead.

As for what to dump in the water, it has to be fish friendly! Might take some time to come up with something, but we will come up with something.

Tea. Lots of it. Tea for the previous revolution.
Pork rinds for the current one.

I think we should dump all the ethanol we can find into Lake Michigan.

  15. SL said:

We could dump water as symbol that we refuse to be forced to carry other peoples water. The water bottles could be labled with the words written in bold OBAMA’S STIMULUS. That way people all over the US could buy them and dump them out onto the streets in open protest. Better yet maybe we should take them California and dump the water into the resorvoirs so farmers can water their crops, crops that are going to die because the environ-menatlly insane want to save a fish!

    LONG LIVE FREEDOM!
    SL

  16. Lisa said:

In tough economic times like these, we don’t really want to dump anything of value in the lake… so I say we just dump dollars bills. At least, that way, nobody would be losing that much.

  17. jefferson said:

Let’s dump the takers ( or their effigies) of the bail out money into the drink. Let’s drive them up in Ford Automobiles, who did not take bailout money, and read off a list of the other Patriotic companies (possible sponsors?) who were offered bailout money, but did not take it. Perhaps that list may be short, but hey it’s worth a shot.

  18. Lajaw said:

It’s very telling of where we are at in this country. You have to get a permit (permission)to assemble. Yes, it is time. For what, I’m not sure.

THANK YOU Rick for being the voice of the PEOPLE and and giving us a forum to be heard. Burn the stimulus package and list of names that voted for it and dump the ashes into Lake Michigan!

  25. Jane Doe said:

I suggest that those of us who have been taken advantage of by Santelli and his friends demonstrate outside the Chicago Board of Trade on April 1. You swindlers are the ones who wrecked the economy–not the people who foolishly bought your products.

    Hang Santelli in effigy!!!

  26. We need to have one in central Ca., then we could split off in north and south directions and shut down all the libs in SF & LA. I hate the fact they have managed to control our vote. Full of illegals who can know vote due to Boxer, Fienstein, and Pelosi. Revolt Now.

It appears that you have ignited the smoldering embers into a fire that has the potential of becoming a raging wildfire sweeping across the nation. I pray that it is so. Again, thank you.

Instead of dumping anything, why don’t we all steal an idea from the 60s Yippie, Abbie Hoffman and his “Steal This Book” and on April first send 1 teabag each to the White House with a simple signed note, “Mr. President, are you listening?”

We could also send 1 teabag to Pelosi, Reid, Baucus, Grassley, Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, Lott and Thune.

Millions of teabags arriving in Washington on a single day with a signed note should get the message across!

  35. Susan Contreras said:

I am very happy to see some action being taken. I will participate as much as I possibly can. I have sent e’mails to Washington and signed petitions, but that’s not enough. We have to make them listen. Obama is acting more like a dictator every day.
As for what to dump into the water, I have two ideas. The first is fish bait. The fish bait is the so-called stimulus package, and the fish who will rush to eat the bait are the ones Obama has indeed “baited” with these bailouts. They’re eating it up. They’re furiously feeding on handouts, but eventually there will be nothing left.
The second idea I have is…well, nothing. Big ole barrels of nothing symbolically “dumped” into the water. The “nothing” represents what all of us hard working, a** busting Americans will be left with if we allow the current administration to steamroll over us.
Whatever is dumped in the water, it has to be legal and not considered littering.

Like the bumper sticker says: OBAMA, One Bad A** Mistake, America.

Mr. Santelli we are with you! Thank you for putting voice to our feelings!! We love the idea of water bottles and dumping water. People can do it anywhere (and it won’t harm anything), although a concerted effort together would make a larger point. May I suggest July 14th, Bastille Day. It would represent the uprising of the 92% of Americans who work hard and pay their mortgages. But it does not fall on a Saturday this year.
We will send our teabags to the President.

And to every Democrat in the Senate and the 3 boobs that saddled us with the Stimulus debacle.
We are ready to stand with you Mr. Santelli!!!

Bottled water would be good — maybe can can dye it - some red, some blue, some clear (white).

May I suggest limiting the places these gatherings will be held? Just so we can get huge crowds in fewer locations instead of lots of little ones. We want MEDIA COVERAGE — WE WANT TO BE HEARD!!

  49. Erin Siegel said:

Excellent idea on the tea party Rick! I vow to send tea bags to as many people in Washington as I can possiblly think of!

As for what to dump into the water, I agree with others that the worthless stimulus plan itself would be a pretty symbolic gesture!

I live in Springfield, MO and would be in support of a tea party here! Hell, I would even help to organize or head the event and would be able to bring tons of people and interest to the event!

Thank you for speaking up Rick for all of the Americans who agree with you!

    Sincerely,

    Erin

May I make a suggestion? If we truly expect to get a buzz from this event, it MUST be concentrated to a single location on a single date. I noticed the website said you were thinking about July 4th. No more thinking about it!—That is the day, without question. It must be July 4th. Also, do we really want to divide up into small groups in Chicago, Boston, and LA? This is a Chicago Tea Party, and if you really want anyone to notice, it must be in Chicago. Its only happening because Santelli just happens to be located in Chicago and used the term “Chicago Tea Party”. It must be in Chicago and you’ll have to get the West coast and East coast patriots to load up their cars and come here to the Windy City. If they’re motivated enough, they’ll do so. One location, one date, everyone on the same page. The sooner you set that in stone, the sooner you get the masses. May I also suggest generating buzz for one million participants? Honestly, if you don’t get a million you’ll never get the public to notice. This is our chance to finally get the silent majority to be heard.

  51. Real American said:

I agree. I think it should solely be held in Chicago, with a few marquee speakers. I thought Kudlow offered and he would be a great supporter. With the current president being from the city, the significance is that much greater. We must follow through on this and cannot allow the fundamentals of this country to be compromised.

July 4…let’s fill Wacker from the Sears Tower to the lake front.

  52. Tony said:

I think this is great idea to speak out against this mortgage plan. We absolutely can not let Obama and his allies in Congress turn this country toward socialism. We need to show Washington the real Americans still believe in personal responsibility and not government bailouts. This a great idea Mr. Santelli!

I live in the Houston area but I would be willing to attend a tea party anywhere in the US.

  53. Nick said:

I think we should dump the politicians in the water.

  54. JOsh said:

I will be dumping in a copy of the stimulus package… It only takes about a month for paper to decompose and it is not going to kill any fish because its made from trees. I dont care what anyone else is doing. No one is going to pay attention if we are throwing water in the lake… I will also be throwing in tea. During the first tea party the patriots stole tea from the british and destroyed it and they are remembered today for that. Do you really think anyone is going to remember us for dumping water into water.

  55. Scare Bear said:

Maybe have 3 more major ones added to the list like Seattle, Denver, and Atlanta that way one could find the closest within driving time (plus it’ll be 4th of July, most Americans will be off work for a day or two). I’m ready to dump some kool-aid! Or fish friendly? how bout some dirt? lol A bunch of dirty politicians deserve a good dirt bath.

  56. Michael said:

MAybe instead of paper that decomposes in a month or so, we should throw in jugs and water bottles with pages of the stimulus inside. Bottles and jugs take about a million years to decompose, the same amount it will take to pay off his AND Bush’s stimuli. It will still not kill fish or anything, but, people will be finding the remains for the next million years as a reminder to take care of this country and who we elect.

  57. Hokus Pokus said:

I think sending teabags to all of congress and the executive branch is the best idea so far. We need to confer on a date for this action.

  58. Dave J. said:

What to dump in the water? How about liberals.

  59. Jean said:

Many of us who would like to attend work and/or have small children. To maximize the number attending rallies, they should be in several large cities, with the major rally being in Chicago. My family would love to attend in the Houston area. Galveston could really use the tourist revenue.

  60. Have you considered promoting this event on the Alex Jones Radio Show or another of the GCN Radio shows?

  61. Jenna said:

While a single protest sounds great, most of the conservatives I know are too busy working hard to take more than a day or two off! I definitely think a protest in large cities across the US is the way to go.

  62. Kathy F. said:

I think that it has to be Chicago and Independence Day seems appropriate. I would go from Florida to Chicago to support a peaceful demonstration. I was thinking that if everybody decided to skip a mortgage payment maybe that would send a clear message regarding how we feel about this mortgage bailout. I wonder what the impact would be on the banks if we did this?

  63. Nick P. said:

First, THANK YOU RICK! I say we dump copies of the stimulus plan into the lake. July 4th seems to be the right date. Stand up and fight! We have been pushed around too long and we can’t wait until America turns into a Socialistic country, which we are rapidly approaching.

  64. Bryan W. said:

I think the perfect material to dump would be a red dye, non-toxic of course. We don’t want to kill off the fish the way our government is killing off our American Dream. The dye would represent the way our government is bleeding us dry.
By the way, do you think if every tax payer in the nation called in sick on the same day that it might strengthen the message?

  65. Larry said:

How about sending your representatives teabags? That should get the point across.

  66. keebz said:

2nd, choose carefully what you dump in the water. We don’t want to add to those already polluted waters and we do not want to create a side issue.

I am all for tea. It is highly symbolic and nonpolluting.

SOME ADVICE ON FUTURE “TEA PARTY” PROTESTS, from a media producer who
    attended the Overland Park affair:

I attended the invigorating protest outside Congressman Dennis Moore’s
    Overland Park, Kansas office yesterday.

I hoped 10-15 souls might show up. I was thrilled to see hundreds. Here are
some suggestions. I don’t really want my name used. Sadly, it could really
hurt my business, which is already hurting.

As a professional media producer, here are my concerns:

    1. Incoherent message - the signs were all over the place. There were lots
of agendas. That’s fine. The color and signage look good on TV.

But, when it came to the microphone - the overall message was tepid and
    unsure.

  72. John Stauffer said:

my suggestion on what to dump in the lake is Pelosi and Obama!!!

  73. Rick mentioned “those who carry the water” versus “those who drink the water”. Several years ago, Jesse Jackson led a very small Chicago Tea Party protest in which they dumped water from bottles into the river. Water under the bridge. That avoids hassles with environmental wackos or police. Might be good TV - everyone holding up their water bottles as those who carry the water. Simple, cheap. BYOB of water.

  74. The decaf coffee suggestion might be better for the DC event as a response to Gibbs’ insulting attack on Santelli. Everybody bring your own cup of coffee for Gibbs. He looks like he needs some caffeine to help wake up to what people in this country really think.

  75. Jake said:

No one has ever heard of this Jesse Jackson protest. Dumping water into water is dumb. Also we HAVE to eventually “destroy their tea” or stop paying taxes or something that actually hurts the government if we really plan on making a difference.

  76. Rebecca said:

In addition to the tea parties (which I hope are all over the country), what about boycotting the predatory, greedy banks that are being bailed out? Whatever goes in the water should be environmentally friendly or else it will be counter-productive. What about water dyed yellow to symbolize we’re “pissed” off about the bail-out?

  77. REPLY TO: Brandon — February 22, 2009 @ 9:48 am:

This will NOT result in REVOLUTION. But it will let Washington know that they are being watched and will be held accountable. And it serves as an awakening for, and empowerment of, American patriots.

The oppostion to a dysfunctional government cannot end with a “Tea Party”. Vigilance must be eternal……

“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty—power is ever stealing from the many to the few…. The hand entrusted with power becomes … the necessary enemy of the people. Only by continual oversight can the democrat in office be prevented from hardening into a despot: only by unintermitted Agitation (sic)can a people be kept sufficiently awake to principle not to let liberty be smothered in material prosperity.”
