The 10th Friendly Reminder

Thomas Jefferson described the Tenth Amendment as “the foundation of the Constitution” and added, “to take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn … is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition.”

Pursuant to the Tenth Amendment, the government of the United States has the power to regulate only matters delegated to it by the Constitution.

Yet, the Constitution says nothing about saving corrupt businesses “in the event they are too big to fail.” Nowhere does it say, government should pay for mortgages “if too many people are irresponsible.” And nowhere in the Constitution, can it be read, that private banks can use the American people as collateral.

ENOUGH!

In honor of the 10th Amendment, we Americans can send our representatives in every level of government a simple reminder on March 10th by sending the following e-mail:

Dear Representative [NAME]

This is a friendly reminder that I still believe in the 10th Amendment. Please represent me.

Thank you,
[NAME]

Or, if you have really had ENOUGH, personalize your message.

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.” -Thomas Jefferson

I think we should abolish the 16th amendment and replace it with the Fairtax. This would be a much better stimulus to the economy than the Obama destruction of liberty and lack of economic stimulus.

I think this is a necessary actions. Obama, who is praised as the “great uniter” has done so much harm to this country in one month, it’s appalling and frightening. Enough is Enough. I do not think we can take 4 years of this. We must speak out, and I for one, am more than ready to join the tea party.

If we repeal the 16th Amendment (Income Tax), and the 17th Amendment (Direct election of Senators) we would restore the States voice in the Senate, and leave it up to the States as to how to collect their share of the Federal budget. This would bring balance between States and the Federal government and act as a break on spending and unfunded mandates.

  6. Andrew said:

The Tea Party has been a long time in coming. I’m surprised the people didn’t rise up years ago. I just hope it isn’t to late to restore the country to a Constitutional government.

If they scream in DC when they hear someone will dump some tea or send some teabags… (And I LOVE the idea of “tea-bagging” as a punishment.)…

…What will they do when someone calls for an open tax revolt?

It’s our money. We work to earn it. We don’t have to give it to you. We can take our toys and go home. Does Obama, our “Dear Leader Most Wise and Merciful” have the stones to send police and troops to extract the money by force?

    Maybe…

But, are they ready for that?

    Rick,

Great Job. More than any other time, we need people to recognize the cost of too much government. The message below was forwarded to Becky, Carl, and Joe.

We have not identified the problem. We have not identified a repair. We are only treating a symptom. Begin with the “Root Cause”, FAILURE OF OVERSIGHT! It is a fact the House Finance Services Commitee is broken.

If a commitee of oversight asks that we forgive oversight in favor of placing renters into expensive homes, ignores 30% annualized gains in real estate, allows security rating agencies to rate waste paper as premium linen, allows insurance companies to insure strips off of CDOs and CMOs backed by no doc., no income, and poor credit history, we have identified what is broken. It is apparent all members on that House Finance Commitee are responsible for destroying America, our Financial Markets, our Financial Integrity, and will cost America over $4 Trillion Dollars. Every member of that commitee belongs in jail with Bernie Made-Off.

Now that we have identified what is broken, begin with repair. We need competent oversight and responsible people to manage this oversight. The tire is flat, remove it, discard it, and replace it. After that, let’s Save America! Reward Tax Payers, observe laws and apply them properly. If it’s Illegal, treat it as Illegal. No benefits, free ride, free education, housing, and healthcare to Illegals. If you don’t pay taxes, how is it you deserve a tax credit, refund, or stimulus based on taxes paid? If you want to stimulate the economy, give it integrity and lock up the members of the House Finance Commitee and create an Energy Plan to benefit America, not the people that want to kill America. Then devote all stimulus money to a Energy Policy and act on it to make America strong and competitive. That will stimulate the economy in unimagineable ways.

    Rick,

If I wasn’t clear enough in my earlier comment, let me be clear now!

Let’s dump all of the memebers on the House Financial Services Commitee into the harbour. For those that are unsure of the commitee, go to http://financialservices.house.gov/ or google it, then select “Who We Are” on the site. Once there, you will know clearly what to do with each member, both Democrat and Republican. Where was the OVERSIGHT for the last 5-6 terms?

Remember, the President is much like a Bobble Head sitting on the dash of the car. Congress and Senate are driving. The car hits a bump in the road and Congress reacts with new laws, Senate follows with regulations, then they argue on how to tax it, once resolved, the spending part is real easy for them.

There doesn’t appear to be much difference in the spending habits of the Republicans and Democrats. There was a chance when the Republicans owned the House, Senate and support of the President. It’s a shame they blew it and behaved like a bunch of drunken Sailors in a Whorehouse. They couldn’t stop themselves from spending our future and Integrity.

    Thanks,
    Martin Cook

    Who is John Galt, indeed.

We’re watching Ayn Rand’s fictional scenario play out right in front of our eyes. Or was it truly fictional? I’m beginning to think that “prophetic” would be the better word.

We’re overdue for a tax revolt. The simplest way to trigger one is to repeal income tax withholding and make each person write monthly checks to Fedzilla. That would rouse the sleeping giant.

Rick, Great Job. But it should be only the first warning shot. If all of you are truly serious and truly fed up with these idiots that are destroying everything that our founding fathers believe and risked their lives for then now is the time to stop complaining and start doing! I mean come on! We have just about let all of these morons squash everything that America once stood for! How do you think that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, et al would react to hear that we “Americans” could care less if we are one nation under God, that we are clearly divided, we worry more about civil liberties of Gay people or offending those ho hate what we supposedly stand for. I mean Geez come on people! I honestly wish i could tell you what needs to be done, to turn America around, to get back to a sovereign nation. I dont have the answers but i sure know that an organized failure to pay any more taxes until we are able to run this country again would be a good start. The politicians would definately go home if they werent getting paid. Then the States could elect good upstanding community members that should represent the people once more like GW and TJ envisioned. Just my opinion.

Why do I hear all of you complaining about the taxes when so many illegals and their anchor babies? They are sucking our system dry. Where is the anger here. They are doing more harm than to America than any one. They are taking our country from us from the inside. I want to see this anger!!!

    1. 40% of all workers in L. A. County ( L. A. County has 10.2 million people)are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.

    2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

    3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

    4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

    5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally

    6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

    7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

    8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

    9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.

    10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.
(There are 10.2 million people in L. A. County )

(All 10 of the above are from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States ‘ annual population growth (and over 90% of California , Florida and New York ) results from immigration. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

We are a bunch of fools for letting this continue

First off, one thing at a time. You take on too many issues at once, you’re going to wear yourself out.

I know everyone has a pet peeve, but we need to focus on a single issue we can all agree on: That this idea of rewarding bad behaviour through bailouts a gogo is a horrible idea in the short and long run.

That’s what this is all about, and it needs to continue to be.

  35. Well, Rick, Thomas Jefferson would ask us all to read the Constitution and The Federalist Papers. And learn what we need to know about the Federal Government. And then read The Anti-Federalist Papers and learn about States Rights.

It’s amazing what one can learn from the Constitution. Go check out Article 1, Section 5, 2nd Paragraph and Section 6, 2nd paragraph. And then ask yourself why no one mentioned either when the Section 5 was being ignored by the Senate and Section 6 was being ignored by the President. And read The Federalist Papers Number 62, which are directly related to Article 1 of the Constitution.

And then ask youself . . . if I don’t promote the reading of the Constitution and The Federalist Papers, who will?

  36. Julescator said:

YOu get to pay taxes, you don’t get to ear mark your’s personally. We have a progressive tax. When you pay it, it goes where the government decides to put it. This is new to you folks??????

It’s the Federal Reserve (a private, non-gov’t organization) that controls our country’s money, not the banking institutions alone. America used to use the gold standard & then who chose to the Federal Reserve — big mistake. Now nobody, not even Obama in all his self righteousness, can fix this… or ’spend’ his way out of this mess.

  42. The Fair Tax is a cop-out. Abolish the IRS and the Federal Reserve, stop Emperor Bernanke immediately. Only choking off the funds will stop the madmen in power from spending. They are getting rich and protecting their pensions while we go broke!!!

Choking off the funds will be a huge step in restoring this country’s sanity. There is no “fix” except to let faulty institutions fail. We badly need a market crash so we can start the recovery.

Write your representatives at http://www.congress.org (enter your zip code on the right hand side about a third of the way down the page). Tell them if they give a cent more in bail-out money, you will work to remove them from office. Let them know you are paying attention. If they think you aren’t, they will do exactly what they want. As they have been.

  43. On the illegals: choke off the welfare funds, this will stop. Put tax money back in the hands of the citizens who earned it.
