Sample Tea Bag Letter to the Fools in Washington
[SinglePic not found]Dear Representative,
In December of 1773, the British government gave special tax incentives to the East India Company. In effect, the British government created a monopoly in the tea market that local merchants could not compete with.
As a reaction to British legislation, the original American patriots protested the unfair treatment by dumping several crates of tea into the Boston Harbor.
In 2009, Americans are once again unsettled by the political favoritism that plagues Washington D.C. Whatever good intentions you have, per the Constitution and under the principles of self-responsibility and respect for every single American citizen, nobody in Washington D.C. has the right to take the fruits of our labor to try and solve problems that We the People did not create.
ENOUGH!
Stop the over spending! Stop mortgaging our future! Stop planning our lives! Stop being the centralized government our forefathers warned us to guard against!
The tea bag image in this letter is a peaceful message to you and Washington D.C. that we don’t blame an individual in Washington D.C. We are protesting the collective idea that an impersonal and corruptible government in Washington can continue to destroy our freedoms, our means of production, and our ability to take pride and make use of our accomplishments.
This message is a predecessor to a mass demonstration to occur on the 233rd anniversary of our Declaration of Independence, in honor of the original patriotic protest on the cold December day in 1773. Our freedoms are worth more than your answers, your good intentions, and our silence. We are NOT against our administration, our President, and surely not our country. We ARE the administration, the President is OUR representative, and our Country is a nation founded on the principles of self-responsibility, individual rights, and respect for the rule of law set forth in the Constitution.
As such, please reflect on our responsibility to inform you as a representative that we are restless. Recognize that we are exercising our right and responsibility to demand that you truly represent us. And, ask yourself, who are the real patriots?
For America,
YOUR NAME

Great letter! I was wondering if there is a “talking points” link we can use to compose our own letters? As I understand it, congressmen are more likely to give weight to issues when they hear from many individuals, not just receive the same letter reproduced in massive amounts.
The politicians routinely produce talking points, and I think we should use the same strategy. Just an idea. Thanks for all of your efforts!

Thanks Joe! We have put together a statement of principles that may help. However, we encourage everyone to analyze and even challenge any statements we make. We don't expect everyone to agree with everything we post and hope people merely use our points as a guide and to tailor to their own positions and beliefs.

I”ve been frustrated beyond belief concerning the direction our Government is taking us. I watch Fox News every night and hear how this or that is being done wrong and I agree. I've wanted to take some sort of action but didn't know what to do. When the bail out package was approved last year I jokingly said to some friends ” it's time for another tea party.” I am pleased to see so many other people feel the same way. I watched the Thomas Paine video on Glen Beck today and that's how I inadvertantly stumbled across your website. I've started my own chain letter in which I include a link to the Thomas Paine video and a link to your sample letter. I wish there were also a link to one website that lists all of our representatives addresses in Washington, D.C. on one page. If there were I would include a link to that as well making it unexcusably easy for people to join this effort. My letter is anonyomus and I hope it's OK that I used your link in it. Great Job with the letter!!!!

The YouTube Thomas Paine guy was on Glenn Beck's show yesterday and he said that the tea bags are getting thrown out in D.C. for possibly containing a dangerous substance, so he said to just send the tag part rather than the actual bag.

Major concern: I've had a number of people hit my blog where I advocate Tea bags. I've been informed that “the postal service or both” will not deliver anything to Washington with what appears to be a teabag in it. If this is so how about we change tactics and draw a teabag on a peace of paper, address to each congressmen and senator and Obama with a note you have been Tea bagged, you will be voted out the next election cycle.? advise thoughts to jcscuba@gmail.com. Subject Tea bag
