Rasmussen Poll reveals only 53% of Americans favor capitalism

In a shocking poll, barely over 50% of Americans believe capitalism is a superior system to socialism. It must also be noted that the Rasmussen telephone survey did not specifically define capitalism or socialism for participants. Here are some of the highlights:

53% believed capitalism is better
20% said socialism is better
27% are not sure which system is better

Adults under 30 are about equally divided:

37% prefer capitalism
33% prefer socialism
30% are undecided

For those in their 30’s:

49% favor capitalism
26% favor socialism

For those over 40, only 13% favor socialism.

The partisan gap was very revealing:

Republicans, by an 11 to 1 margin, favor capitalism. Democrats were more divided. 39% preferred capitalism, while 30% favored socialism. As far as independents and third party members, 48% favored capitalism, while 21% favored socialism.

53% believed capitalism is better (older more experienced workers)
20% said socialism is better (college kids and dedicated Marxists)
27% are not sure which system is better (morons)

For those over 40, only 13% favor socialism (that's because they have been around long enough to see it for what it is)

Thought this was interesting as since I am below 30, I can see how many people of my generation since we have been coddled and given everything from our parents, expect the government to do the same. I deserve it right???

I think as this plays out people will see that as their money gets taken away and we have less voice, it really is not the best choice. At least we hope.

I know I work hard and have earned what I have and do not expect to be handed anything.

This Ron Paul quote deserves a plug here:

“Capitalism should not be condemned, since we haven't had capitalism.” -Ron Paul

53% favor capitalism, 27% are unsure which is better.

This absolutely floors me! Our founding fathers and patriots of the Revolutionary War sacrificed much more than our generation ever could for liberty. All 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence had a price tag on their heads from England, yet all were willing to put their lives on the line for us- our mealy-mouthed linguini spined entitlement minded society. “Me. Me. Me.” is what our society says. After 9-11 it was “God Bless America” from the marquis of the neighborhood McDonalds to the corner barber shop. But once the smoke was cleared, the dust settled, and our lives return to a degree of normalcy with no further terror attacks on our soil, I guess we don't need God anymore! We would rather trade in our nation's soul for entitlement programs that will bankrupt future generations. The dumbing down of our educational system (which shows nothing but disdain of our history) has brought forth its fruit- Stupidity, ignorance, and self-absorption.

I noticed daddio's comment about the 27% being morons and nothing could be further from the truth. Liberty comes with a price tag- greater personal responsibility, moral and ethical behavior, maturity to make wise decisions with the priviledge of living with greater freedoms. Liberty tests our will to remain to do the right thing when we are tempted to do wrong. Capitalism gives us freedom to buy and sell freely to the open public. To do so requires that our product be of high quality- the result of hard work, sacrifice, and a desire to fulfill the custormers needs. Morons, on the other hand, want entitlement from others. They cannot make decisions on their own, or accept responsibility. They believe the government should blow their nose and wipe their bottoms. They are incapable of accepting the responsibility to live in a free society because they lack the maturity to handle it. I say let them move to Europe and have Big Brother watch over them. Let the government make their decisions about what to buy and for how much. The morons slice their heads open, yank out their brains, and hand them to the government to do their thinking because they lack the capacity to do it for themselves.

    Good point, daddio!!
