This is the most ridiculous news report ever. They still have no idea why people are protesting?? They're a news organisation, so why don't they research it!!?? Also, “they seem kinda Ron Paulish..”. As if he's a crazy man or man or something for disagreeing with the FED and the large amount of power the federal government is creating regardless of which party is in office. I love how they boil the protests down to “people who don't like taxes” like we're stupid pawns of a “conservative billionaire”. It's not ALL taxes, it's the unconstitutional ones like income tax that rely on the 16th amendment for justification that go straight into the FED's pockets. (Try finding that law: citizens must pay an income tax!) This is why OLD media is a huge joke among NEW media folks. We don't listen to the rabble they spew and spin. You can find all the TRUTH you want through the internet.

0:08 - “Even though he cut taxes.” HE DID NOT! HE RAISED THEM!! HE RAISED SPENDING TO OVER 11 TRILLION DOLLARS!! DO YOUR HOMEWORK, LADY!!

This is exactly why the media never gets it.

I guess clarification is needed. Obama cut the employment tax, but the amount will be a miniscule figure. My arguement is the proportion of tax cut vs. overall spending. Besides, the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, which will return tax rates to their prior levels. You can't spend 11 TRILLION dollars that we don't have and not raise taxes in the future. The anchorwoman's statement is absurd. The fed is printing money and devaluing our dollar. Suppose we play Monopoly and I happen to land on Boardwalk with 2 hotels, and suppose all my properties are mortgated to the hilt and I have no money left. So I run to my printer and print additional “Monopoly money” to cover the payment. It doesn't work in Monopoly, and it won't work in real life.

Teabag the media. Let Krugman and this ditz pay for our mortgages.

While Ron Paul originally came up with the Tea PARTY concept as a fundraiser for his campaign, it IS important to note that these pseudo grassroots “tea parties” are simply an exploitation of that concept to serve the pseudo republican (neoconservative) agenda. I feel it is important to note the key differences between grassroots and corporate sponsored events such as these tea parties.

*for the record, I do not oppose the idea of the tea party, i just feel the distinction between Ron Paul's efforts, “grassroots,” and this teaparty organization should be noted…

All I hear at most of these gatherings is hoo hah about chavez and castro … i hear more about foreign socialists than i do about our domestic ones … seems like pro war crowd instead of people who really understand free markets or capitalism or liberty for that matter

Condescension is not an attractive quality. It is also a bit silly to act like no one knows what is being protested here. Here are the List of Grievances about which we are protesting.

    The Federal Government

    - taxes us too much
    - taxes us in an uneven manner
    - confiscates income from some to give to others
    - confiscates property in order to generate higher tax revenues
    - usurps power from state and local governments
    - usurps power from the individual
    - simply prints money in order to fund unconstitutional objectives
    - runs huge deficits in order to fund unconstitutional objectives
    - borrows huge sums from totalitarian regimes to fund unconstitutional objectives
    - takes away liberty via unconstitutional decrees - such as
    - confiscating private companies at will
    - firing employees of private companies
    - claiming the right to dictate salaries at private companies
    - forcing private companies to take government bailout money
    - refusing to let those companies pay the money back

That was my first time ever seeing Rachel Maddow. Is that supposed to be journalism? I went to the first spontaneous tea party in 2009, in front of the White House. The theme is STOP SPENDING MONEY WE DON'T HAVE. READ THE 1000+ PAGE BILLS BEFORE YOU VOTE ON THEM. STOP F*CKING AROUND WITH OUR MONEY AND OUR CHILDREN'S MONEY.

This piece was so clearly a smear of the tea parties in general. No one cares about honesty, they care about being right. Ultimately everyone will get what they deserve for chucking honesty by the wayside.

Do not worry folks. Rachel maddows show generates about 1/3 the audience of Bill Oreilly's 11 pmEST repeat. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/ She would support Obama if Obama were to proclaim sewage smells good.

I do not know about you guys but this fires me up even more. I am going to the Orlando Tea Party(Hopefully it does not rain) and am going to drive three more people there.

MSNBC is so far out of touch with the people and at the same time try to shape news to their likings. Its actually quite sick.

  13. Jason said:

P.S. MSNBC Get it right. He raised taxes and where the word taxes was to harsh he decided to just put fees on things. Like street lights. What a joke!!

    Jefferson,

When I stated “he” I thought the anchorwoman meant to say that Obama had cut taxes. I wasn't referring to Ron Paul. I'm not as crazy as you think.

  15. Husband said:

Listen to the first eight seconds and you'll see why I made that statement. It seems more than obvious how the media defends Obama without thinking through the logic- small cuts in employment tax vs. 11 Trillion (with the help of Bush) in new spending.

  16. Husband said:

That's because our domestic leaders are acting like foreign socialists.

  17. Husband said:

You're right, Todd, and thanks for setting the record straight. If the MSM ever got off their dead cans and investigate (which they won't because they'rre Obama's cronies) they would find out the truth.

I went to Atlanta on my honeymoon and during the trip we went to CNN and took a tour(bad idea). Did you know that the AVERAGE anchorperson makes over 300,000 per year? And remember, Obama wants to raise takes on those making over somewhere between 100,000 and 250,000. I guess the MSM doesn't mind paying a little more in taxes. Krugman's got some forking over to do.

  18. Husband said:

“raise taxes” not “raise takes.” Too bad I can't go back an correct my spelling. I was typing in a hurry. I have to leave for work in about three minutes.

I really tried, but I can't stand these idiotics liberals journalists. They are so…I can't even describe them for the sake of whoever will be reading this, but believe me when I say I can't find a nice word for them! Stop the love for Obama e go do your work in a honest, unbiased way! Be more like Fox News! You have lots to learn from them!

Two ugly dykes acting the same way FOX does from their Nazi Facist angle, but from MSNBC’s Marxist Facist angle.

  24. Husband said:

You posters who dis Fox News ought to post on sites similiar to your own views like Democratic Underground or Moveon.org. Fox gave this event better coverage and with far more journalistic integrity than the other networks. That’s why their ratings remain high.
