I believe if you don’t speak up when injustice is all around, if you don’t DO something, then you have no right to complain. I think that the wishes of 60 million people were ignored by the powers that be in the last year, and if we don’t get together and stand up for the Constitution as our forefathers intended it to be utilized, this country will ultimately fail. Don’t tell me it isn’t relevant anymore…it was what our country was founded upon….country which was supposed to be free from tyranny and unfair taxation, etc., a country which was built upon a concept of FREEDOM from the all-encompassing dictates of a sometimes corrupt government. I am not a radical, I am not subversive, but I am a thinker! Yesterday I attended a 4th of July festival locally, and volunteer TeaParty representatives were there trying to get signatures on a proposal to amend the state constitution so that voter ID would be required……….and they also passed out papers which listed, 12 principles of the TeaParty’s beliefs…………. and I watched as people went over and signed the petition for a couple hours. It made me want to do MORE than simply sign one needed petition concerning a state level issue. Complacency and apathy is what has helped create the out of control situation at hand in this nation. We are overdue in ceasing apathetic thought patterns which have given us, year after year, a group of nonresponsive elected and appointed “officials” who are SUPPOSED to be working for US………not dictating to us and robbing us in the process. So, I decided to find what I could online. I agree in theory with those “12 principles” as they were stated. That is why I am here. But, my presence here doesn’t mean I endorse or agree with any more statements made than these 12 principles. I will not be lumped into the category of “guilty by association” if someone else happens to believe or accept more than these 12 basic principles, or if those same people have OTHER agendas.

This is verbatim the “Tea Party Statement of Beliefs” as rec’d on 7/4/09:

1. Reign in bloated spending and require a balanced budget each year in order to lower the deficit and national debt.

2. Require transparency allowing adequate time (minimum one week) to debate and study bills, specifically those involving spending and taxation. No earmarks. No pork.

3. Replace the tax code with a flat tax.

4. The federal government must not interfere with free markets or private business. No bailouts. No nationalization of private business. Promote capitalism.

5. The family is sacred allowing the spouses to be the ultimate authority not the government.

6. Lower taxes especially on businesses to promote growth of the economy and protect small business.

7. We believe in local government, states’ rights, and national sovereignty.

8. The federal government must secure the borders and provide a strong national defense.

9. Uphold the Constitution as it was originally intended by our Forefathers.

10. Instate term limits for politicians by amending the Constitution.

11. Charitable giving should remain in the local community not dictated by the Federal Government.

12. The Government works for the People, not the other way around.

Those are the principles that I am saying I agree with………plain and simple. Nothing more.
