I’ve been a Conservative activist since age 14 when I founded Americans Helping Americans. After traveling through Appalachia, I couldn’t believe the poverty in the region. Americans Helping Americans collected clothing and canned food, then set up co-ops with U.S. Senator John Sherman Cooper. The people were too proud to take handouts, so we sold items for pennies and created a microeconomy in the region. In 2004, I founded and ran CATE (The Coalition for Accountability and Tax Equality) after an activist Vermont Supreme Court justice mandated that the legislature develop a “Robin Hood” property tax system that had the richer towns paying property taxes to the state and their towns. Taxes in richer towns rose by more than 40%. We’re still fighting that battle. In addition, I have been a professional writer since 1983, have served as managing editor of three magazines, written two syndicated columns and wrote an Op/Ed piece for the Connecticut Section of the Sunday New York Times. As managing editor of “United States Banker” magazine, I was blessed to have won a Jesse H. Neal Award (it’s somewhat like a Pulitzer Prize for the trade press. I’m a political scientist who writes extensively about political issues as a Conservative. |
| Why I'm a Tea Partier |
The American people just aren’t paying attention to the Obama administration’s move to Socialism and his ripping the Constitution apart. Enough. We have to get sensible people, Republicans and Democrats, who abide by and love the Constitution to take Congress in 2010 if we want to stop the Obama juggernaut. If we fail, we fail our children and grandchildren. God bless and save America!! |
