Tea Party Patriots leader defends group after co-founder leaves claiming GOP ties

The leader of the nation’s largest Tea Party network is disputing claims by a former top official that the group is too closely tied to the Republican Party, arguing that the movement continues to grow as an independent force bent on fighting the Washington culture of overspending.
Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, defended her group and the movement after fellow co-founder Mark Meckler resigned amid frustration over the operation’s priorities and finances. A board member also left.
Meckler, in interviews immediately following his resignation as national coordinator, claimed the Patriots were too close to the GOP and was wasting money in support of that alleged alliance.
The comments raised core questions about the direction of the Tea Party movement in an election year. Tea Party groups were largely responsible in 2010 for helping the GOP win back the House — but only after backing outside-the-box conservative candidates who in many cases upset incumbents and establishment candidates in the primary process.

Jenny Beth Martin has a lot of explaining to do with what she has done with all the donations she has collected plus the $1M which was supposed to be divided between Tea Party groups who applied for some of the pot. Nothing ever happened and if she can name ANYONE who has ever gotten one of TPP grants speak now or forever hold your piece. Jenny Beth runs all over the country spending our donation money, refuses to listen to members who have agenda’s different than hers, taking large monthly salaries for her and her husband – who needs them – we are doing fine on our own since they have not actually given any direction. She wants us to go to DC again – for what? We went 5 times when she asked and got nothing but ridicule and name called. Maybe she would like to pay all our ways up there rather than spend the money on herself.
By the way – did hubby ever pay all his back income taxes and if so did they use our donations to do so??????? IRS wants to look at anyone it should be TPP.
