Our founders have stopped rolling over in their graves. After months of tossing and turning, we have finally taken back the banner of hope that has been hijacked by the “do-good” saviors.

Statist sympathizers call us cynics; those who complain without answers of our own. They call us “selfish”, implying that funding failure is altruistic. While America was founded on those who do, they ask us to submit to those who can’t.

ENOUGH!

On December 16, 1773, the original Patriots put their lives on the line. With an envelope, a stamp, and a bag of tea, millions of Americans can send a peaceful message; our lives have value.

On April 1st, our establishment will know that our freedom to succeed can no longer be sacrificed at the risk of our future.

With sincerity and respect, we ask that you join us on April 1st, 2009, in sending the Oval Office a Tea Bag, in honor of the party in Boston on December 16, 1773, and in anticipation of its nationwide symbolic re-enactment in the summer of 2009.

    I will send a teabag to the President on April 1st BUT I don’t think the tea party goes far enough. Just sending the teabag to the President will be easily ignored and the numbers can be kept from him.

    I think everyone who sends a teabag to him should also pledge to send one to both of their Senators and Congressman as well as to their Governor and State Reps. I personally feel that will be the only way our elected officials will get the message.

To the President, the Speaker, the committee chairs (especially Frank and Conyers who will write the homeowner bailout legislation), the Senate majority leader, and each to our own Congressperson and Senators. There will probably be a vote in the next week on the homeowner bailout. And in the next two weeks, the House and Senate will pass, and the President will sign, an Omnibus Spending Act for Fiscal Year 2009. This bill is being kept in Secret. Only the speaker and her committee chairs have seen it. No Republican has seen it. And it has not been posted on the Internet. We need transparency now, not in April, not in July.

    Here’s my idea for you. Quit your job. If your wife has one, she should quit too. Spend six months unemployed. Then, see if the financial decisions you made last year are still “good” ones.

    You are absolutely right that President Bush spent too much money, along with the Dem controlled Congress. Obama said we would have change. By spending even more money, this is more of the same crap out of Washington. Obama hasn’t given us change but more of the same.

    Common sense dictates that if you are overbudget and in severe debt that you cut back spending and try to be more efficent. Our government has let us down and done just the opposite. What Obama and Congress have done is like a individual who is going to file for bankruptcy goes out and buys a rolls royce and a yacht. Does this make sense? Also, what right does our government have to take money that my children and grandchildren will have to pay back. This is not leaving a better future for them but further exasperating the problem. Does this sound like a new refreshing way to govern? Not really.

    The last point I would like to make is I think your represent the Obama camp well with your classy name calling. Do you think this is going to fix anything? You might want to look in a mirror when you decide to do name calling.

    Some of you guys need little history lessons - one of the problems w/ Bush’s presidency was that he started spending like a Democrat and lest you forget the Democrats had the majority for the past 2 years! Also while, I’m at it Bush and several other Repubs (i.e. McCain) back in 2003-2004 wanted to rein in some of the craziness going on by Freddi and Fannie but NOOOOo Barney Frank and some other Dems (and we won’t leave out Christopher Cox) said all was righty right w/ Fannie and Freddie so voted NO to more oversight…

    I’m also sick and tired of these people whining over the rich getting richer well maybe if you got off your duff and started working… instead of waiting for handouts maybe you too would be one of those “rich” people… Most of the wealthy… work damn hard for their money.. why don’t you? And if you want to take all this money away from the evil rich - who do you,where do you, you drone, think is going to pay for all your handouts once you’ve destroyed the rich and middle class???     I think the date for this idea is wrong. The act could be construed as an April Fool’s joke. The tea bags should be sent on April 15th - the day tax returns are due. That date would add to the symbolism of the idea rather than give lefties an opportunity to mock it.

  23. Sending one tea bag seems pretty weak to me and doesn’t require any commitment. It wastes a perfectly good teabag. It wastes a perfectly good postage stamp. In a stressed economic environment it wastes government employee time. It needlessly fills landfills. Certainly we can come up with a far better idea.

    I’ll answer your question first: Jesus would tell you to go find a job, any job, and take care of yourself and your family.

    Now, tell me please: what makes you “deserving” more than me and my family? Why do you “deserve” to have ME pay your mortgage? Charity is something that comes from the heart, not the US Government. It means *I* decide what to do do with *my* money just as *you* made the same decisions. You indeed might need assistance and there are many loving, charitable Americans who freely give. Look at the outpouring to the troops and disaster victims! There are no more charitable people in the world than those in the USA.

    We are complaining about the US Government (something invented by the people, for the people and of the people) has decided to dictate to the people where their money will go. It’s straight out robbery!

I am an economist major at the University of Texas at Arlington, and I want to say how grateful I am for someone, who understands that the money can not be given out to people, who the government “likes” at this time or another time in order to look “nice” as if this will save America. Economics is all about efficiency, and if banks and automakers can not compete with out a stimulus or a bailout then they should be left to die. Otherwise you have an artificial business that can not be efficient that not only hurts the consumer, but also the government and the world abroad.

    Dear Mr. Walker

    I heard about your reference to America resembling the waning days of the Roman Empire on C.N.B.C. a few weeks ago and then I read an account of your comments in David Panzner’s book “Financial Armageddon”. These prompted me to read your actual speeches and releases on the subject of our country’s precarious (and potentially depressing) future.

    After reading your thoughtful apolitical analysis –which shows your love for and dedication to the United States- I (a lowly citizen and taxpayer) wanted to Thank You for your efforts at being a modern day Paul Revere. I only hope you can get the word out to as many people as possible, so they will make informed wise (not emotional 30 second sound bite motivated) decisions on who to elect to truly lead our country through the challenging difficult times we face.

    In 1985 when the United States Senate was passing an increase in the federal debt limit (to $2 Trillion), I wrote an updated version to The Declaration of Independence to highlight the incredible dysfunction created by: 1) the malignant and obsolete organizational structure of the federal government; 2) the explicit and implicit corruption inducing electioneering system for federal officials and 3) a disinterested citizenry that has yet to experience the discomfort and explosion in taxation and inflation caused by short-sighted policies and inefficient governmental operations. This was originally part of a college paper and was designed to foster thoughtful discussion on the challenges facing the United States in the future.

    Declaration of Independence – Part II

    Monday, September 16th, 1985

    When in the Course of Human Events, it becomes necessary for Individuals – and thus their commercial enterprises, charitable groups and local & state governments – to Dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with their national government and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and Superior Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.

    We hold the Truths to be Self-Evident, that All People are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain Unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty of the Spirit & Mind, Ownership of One’s Own Productive Efforts, Freedom from Intrusive governments, Economic Freedom of Choice, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these Rights, governments are instituted among Individuals, deriving their Just Powers from the True & Informed Consent of the Governed, that whenever ANY form of government becomes DESTRUCTIVE to these Ends, it is the Right of the People to Alter or to Abolish it, and to institute New Government, laying its Foundations on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such form, as to them shall seem MOST likely to effect their Individual Liberty, Economic Freedom & Security, Physical Safety and Spiritual Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for Light and Transient causes; and accordingly all Experience has shown, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, While Evils (like government encroachment into the private affairs of
    individuals & businesses and embarrassingly poor government administrative, operational and financial performance) are sufferable, than to Right themselves by Abolishing the forms of government to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of Government Abuses of Power, Usurptions of Individual FREEDOMS, Increasing Financial Extractions, Regulatory Suffocation, and Bureaucratic Ineffectiveness, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under Absolute Economic, Social, and thus Political DESPOTISM, It is their RIGHT, it is their DUTY to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for Their Future Economic, Individual (and thus Societal) Security, and Ecosystem Preservation.

    Such has been the patient Sufferance of the People of the United States; and such is now the necessity which constrains us to Alter Our Former Systems of Government. The History of Congresses & Presidents – 1933 to the Present – is a History of repeated Federal Government Expansions, Excesses and Ineptitudes, all having in Direct Result the establishment of Oppressive Economic Control over the People of the United States. To Prove this, let FACTS be submitted to a candid WORLD.

    MEMBERS of CONGRESS and PRESIDENTS (1933 to the Present):

    -Have, with the best of intentions (and sometimes without), continually tried to Artificially manipulate the Economy of the United States. This manipulation – designed for the purposes of bringing about improved living standards, greater societal cohesiveness, and Domestic Tranquility – Resulted in: an unjustifiably High Level of Taxation, a Schizophrenically Paradoxical and Complicated Tax Code, Astronomically High Levels of Bankruptcy Threatening Government Debt, Increased Risk of Government Debt Monetazation Induced Debasement of the Purchasing Power of Our Dollar (INFLATION), Increasing Levels of Government Intrusion into the Lives of Our Citizens, Greater Amounts of Suspicion, Antagonism and resentment between members of different Socio-Economic Groups, and – MOST IMPORTANTLY – a Stagnation in the Evolution of Our Natural Socio-Economic Interactive Abilities. All this has been done by Federal Officials who, for the most part, have no stated or inferred CONSTITUTIONAL Authority to operate the Federal Government in such a fashion and who lack sufficient understanding of THE ECONOMIC LAWS OF THE UNIVERSE. These Financial/Economic – and resulting individual, family, societal, political and international relations- WEAKNESSES have left Our Union exposed to all the Dangers of Propagandistic Invasions from without, and Economic, Psychological and Societal Convulsions from Within;

    -They have created a situation which has subjected Us to a jurisdiction foreign to: the Ideals, Intentions, and Goals that formed Our DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE; fueled the Fires of Our AMERICAN REVOLUTION, and are the very Essence of Our Nation’s Birth;

    -They have diluted the strength & meaning of Our CONSTITUTION by passing thousands of obscure and complicated pieces of legislation; thus effectively abolishing Our Most Valuable LAWS, and altering fundamentally the form of Our Government from the WISE Designs of the Original Architects of the Government of the United States;

    -They have unjustly declared themselves invested with the Power to legislate for Us in All cases whatsoever. Congress with its Inglorious Plethora of committees and sub-committees AND the Executive Branch with its innumerable departments, agencies, commissions, councils, services and offices, work together to actively “HELP” the People of the United States Live THEIR LIVES; the result of this Ungodly collaboration has been an unprecedented proliferation of laws, regulations, and taxes, which have combined to make it Mathematically Certain that even the most Honest Individuals, businesses and local governments amongst Us will break a good number of Federal Dictates;

    -They have created a Multitude of new government agencies, commissions and departments and sent hither swarms of bureaucrats to Harass Us and TAX OUT OUR SUBSTANCE (using direct, indirect, regressive, progressive, income, excise, fuel, toll, property, inflation, marriage, and FUTURE FEDERAL DEBT REPAYMENT TAXES). Our alleged representatives have told Us that We must make do with Less Money because they WANT – without genuinely attempting to adapt the government to less revenue – MORE OF OUR MONEY; We are expected to accept – in a Slave-like Fashion – the unspoken fact that WE THE PEOPLE (the farmers, workers, savers, investors, teachers, entrepreneurs and consumers) of the United States serve one purpose relative to the Federal Government – TO PAY, Unquestioningly and Involuntarily, for the Services Provide to, the Aggravation Inflicted on, and the Economic Instability Forced upon Us by the Federal Government;

    -They have – by using Socio-Economically Divisive Rhetoric, Simplistic and Vague Campaign Slogans and Speeches, Confusing & Equally Meaningless Statistics and by placing party politics and political gamesmanship ABOVE Our Nation’s True Current and Future Needs – incited the development of Factional Divisiveness with Our Society;

    -They have created Oceans of DEBT which threaten to Drown the Happiness of Future Generations of Americans and with this DEBT, they have backed themselves into a Financial and Political corner – from which the only logical long-term escape (given their past Taxing, Financial, & Operational Performance Record) will be Higher Tax Extractions & Inflationary Debt Monetization. This monetization will bring forth a Tidal Wave of Inflation; and this Inflation will result in an Unrestrained and Indiscriminate Financial Genocide of the Value and Wealth contained in Our Paychecks, Bank Accounts, Insurance Policies, Stock and Bonds, Cash, & Government Debt Securities. Paper Money will – as it has in Our PAST – “Pollute the Equity of Our Laws, Turn them into Engines of Oppression, Corrupt the JUSTICE of Our Public Administration, Destroy the Fortunes of the Millions who have Confidence in it, Enervate the Trade, Husbandry, and Manufacturers of Our Country, and Will Go Far to DESTROY the MORALITY of OUR PEOPLE;”

    -And they have – in general – behaved in a manner totally Unworthy of Solemnly Sworn Stewards of a GREAT & FREE ECONOMIC POWER.

    This Documentable pattern of Knowingly & Wantonly Shattering the American Dreams of Individual Economic Self Determination and National Prosperity, for reasons of personal political ambition, financial greed, foolishness, and/or weakness of will power, CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED. And for their parts in this Historically Criminal Act, Members of Congress and Presidents (1933 to the Present) – whether active participants or passive acquiescers – WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN by the People of the United States or by the Posterity of the World.

    In every stage of these increasing Economic Oppressions, we have PETITIONED FOR REDRESS in the most humble terms; Our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Federal Government, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is Unfit to Protect and Govern a FREE PEOPLE.

    NOTE: I wrote this on the night of September 16th, 1985 as a way of venting my frustration with the fact that the U.S. Senate was raising the Federal Debt Limit to $2 TRILLION ($2,000,000,000,000.00). At the ripe old age of 22, I thought this event was a disaster (joke was on me haha). I haven’t read this in almost 20 years. Given our current economic and political situation, I think its content holds up pretty well. I hope you enjoyed it.

    By the way, the Federal Debt Limit is being RAISED to $9.815 TRILLION ($9,815,000,000,000.00); That’s $32,716.66 for Each American, all 300,000,000 of us. Plus we as a Nation have a ZERO PERCENT SAVINGS RATE and We (America) are borrowing 800 BILLION a Year ($800,000,000,000.00 Per Year or $2,191,780,821.90 per day or $91,324,200.90 Per Hour or $1,522,070.02 Per Minute) From CHINA, O.P.E.C. Countries, RUSSIA, and everyone else we can hit up to finance our spending binge. PLUS, the U.S. Government has “OFF-BUDGET / IMPLICIT LIABILITIES of $38.8 TRILLION ($38,800,000,000,000.00) see GAO-08-241CG – that’s another $129,333.33 Per Person. NOW, Add that to your credit cards, car loans and mortgages and do you really think we’ll ever see a Social Security check that’s actually worth anything?

    Here’s a real economic stimulus plan for America that has a 100% return per year. It costs only $50 billion. It pays back over 1/2 trillion dollars in 10 years. It also:

    - creates new jobs for Americans
    - puts real money in people’s pockets
    - improves the quality of life for all Americans
    - is “green,” improving the quality of our environment
    - extends the life of our infrastructure
    - reduces traffic (as has been proven)

    - improves the quality of health care for all Americans

    What is it? It’s called the “Bounty Bill.” Here’s how it works:

    Take $50 billion dollars & divide it by population among the states. That money would go to pay citizens $500 a head for rounding up & delivering to ICE illegal aliens & their offspring for deportation across the southern border. How they get home beyond that is their problem. The bill would also be used for transportation costs & to support military units that would be deployed for enforcement to prohibit re-entry.

    Want proof of the return on investment? Los Angeles County alone was pegged by the GAO as spending over $1 billion per year on services for illegals. At the same time, The Economist estimated the illegal population in LA County to be 2,000,000. LA county would be allocation $1 billion as part of the Bounty Bill. Divide this by $500 a head equal 2 million illegals. Every year after the cleanup, Los Angeles taxpayers would save $1 billion dollars. It beats the lotto!

    Monies unspent would be reserved as a future deterrent. For example, an illegal who falls down in Tijuana in the morning and finds himself that same afternoon at a Northridge hospital, scheduled for brain surgery the next morning at the expense of local taxpayers (this is a real case) would have to worry that the Emergency Room clerk would turn him in to collect $500.

    Since the average cost to taxpayers is an increase of $1000 with the wonderful, new California budget bill, I want my money spent this way.

    Pretty funny that there is talk of sending tea box tops because our leaders wouldnt accept actual tea bags from the masses. What does this say about thier position of power VS your position of being powerless. I think that is the key to the whole thing. What Rick channeled into with his rant was the peoples feeling of being powerless. We were powerless during the last admin and that condition is just being further cemented by the new admin.
    I am all for protest, but at this point I’m pretty sure that symbolic gestures of tea parties, and tea thru the mail are all just total wastes of time and energy. We are reaching a turning point where subtle or civil protest isnt good enough. Also, having rallies in Chicago or NY is totally silly as well. I think its time to actually make the government fear the citizens, just as the founders knew was our obligation as citizens.
    As the number of unemployed grows, and the number of folks losing their businesses, homes, retirement savings…etc etc. We have the time, the anger and the duty to throw off this government, and return OUR government to that which the constitution provides for. We the people need to show up in D.C. and shut it down thru whatever means are neccesary. If thats by clogging up the streets with cars, trucks, tractors, and people then so be it. if its guns and pitchforks, then so be it. this government is out of control and it really is our duty, no matter which side of the aisle you sit on, to say enough is enough. We will no longer allow our government to be run by a ruling class that has overstepped its authority time and time again.

    Instead I recommend something far more effective. Taxation without representation is really the issue and we all want to change the IRS system.

    I suggest we push to send a tea bag (personally I am sending Limburger Cheese) to the IRS wrapped in two sheets of standard paper and addressed to the regional office that your taxes are to be mailed to in a standard business envelope.

    This will have a much greater impact. First, the post office will not know which mail are real tax returns and which mail are the protest so they must deliver all the mail. Second, sending to each of our specific return facilities will prevent them from concentrating on one main location to block and check mail. Every letter will need to be opened because the IRS will not know which returns are real. The impact will draw significant attention to the real problem of taxation without representation.

    If you send the Limburger Cheese, like me, you will send the added message that something stinks with the system. The cheese will take a few days to take effect if wrapped in a few pieces of paper. If they do not open and process the mail it will start to stink very soon.

    Besides, if we send tea bags the price of tea will go up and just cost the consumers more. If the price of limburger goes up, who cares?

It doesn't have any specifications in there about a person having to be effected an iota by the economic situation we are in right now. In order for this to really help the people it should, someone in the house should have been effected by the economy, either by losing their job, or by taking some sort of paycut, either by being demoted, due to no fault of their own, or because they are in sales (I was in sales for a long time- I know) or the like that would cause their paychecks to get smaller and not bigger. However, most, and I do mean most, of the people that are going to take advantage of this bill make more money this year than they did last year, and are just as Santelli said, putting on an extra bathroom or purchasing more house than they can afford, and are just too lazy to work a second job for it, or don't care about you and are just willing to take the handout as long as you are willing to give it. I love to help people, but really, there are a lot of people out there that like your money a whole heck of a lot more than you. I, for one, need my money. I am a college student, I worked hard for my money, and I don't need to lose anymore than I already have. I WAS effected by the economy. I lost 3/4 of my 401(k)- do you see anybody willing to bail me out? And do you see me crying asking for it from you or anyone else? No! I made the decision to put it there, and I knew the risk, so I take the cut. That's what business is- sometimes it is good, sometimes it is bad. Right now it is bad. When it's good, no one's willing to allow anyone to take the responsibility then, and no one should take it now that it's bad. And by the way, if you are going to mention Jesus, you need to read the bible and the history books from that time- people got all excited over a 10% tax, look where we are now. Jesus supported people helping people, not government forcing some people to help some other people who are often more well off than the helpers anyway. And hey, I am not a christian, but don't you call when someone speaks as if someone else is the Messiah, something like blasphemy? You can't throw out one part of the bible and preserve another.
